My name is Richard, and I am the owner of Mystical Forest Woodcraft.
My journey into woodworking was heavily inspired by my grandfather, who was one of those old school guys that could do just about everything. A welder by trade, he also built whole houses and made stunning wooden furniture in his offtime. Unfortunately, he passed away when I was too young to enjoy woodworking with him, but I like to think he’s still watching me and helping to guide me along in my journey.
I started Mystical Forest Woodcraft to take the next step on my woodworking journey. One of my favorite things about woodworking is having the ability to make gifts for other people with my own two hands.
I think making a product for someone else can be such an intimate undertaking. You really have to know a person. What product can they actually use? What design features would they most like? What types of woods will they enjoy? There are so many questions that go into designing a project to be given to someone else. For me, it’s a very nerveracking process where I am constantly hounded by doubts: what if I get something wrong and they don’t like it? To me this just makes it more worth it in the end. The feeling of delivering a custom, handmade work of art is one of the best feelings I can imagine.
I thought, well if I want to make more stuff for other people, a store seems like the most logical step, right? So, here I am and here you are.
And since you’re here, I think it’s good to tell you what to expect. In a nutshell, you should expect the same extreme level of care and attention going into your order as I’d put into something I’m making for a loved one. If it wouldn’t make my grandfather proud, I don’t want to send it to you.
